Skin cancer may seem small, but in actual is a deadly disease. The cancer begins to develop when the DNA is damaged much ahead of repair. The damaged cells grow and spread at a very uncontrollable rate. Such damage in the skin refers to skin cancer. These cells continuously multiply resulting in a tumor. Skin cancer generally develops in the outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis and the tumor in this case is quite visible. Hence, skin cancer is mostly detected in the initial stages.
One of the most common and predominant reasons behind skin cancer is the excessive exposure to the sun. The ultraviolet rays of the sun tend to damage the DNA. There are two categories of skin cancer, one being the melanoma skin cancer and the other is the nonmelanoma skin cancer. The former out of the two is the deadliest. Besides, there are different kinds of skin cancer that may afflict a person on the basis of the skin cells that they develop in. Out of which, three of them are the main ones. They are; the Basal cell carcinoma, Squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma skin cancer. Also there are two categories of skin cancer, one being the melanoma skin cancer and the other is the nonmelanoma skin cancer. The former out of the two is the deadliest.
Skin cancer can happen to anyone irrespective of their color, skin texture or family history. The two distinct kinds of biopsies that take may place once skin cancer is suspected are the incisional biopsy in which one portion of the skin is removed and the external biopsy in which the tissue as well as the tumor is removed.
